Okoa Refuge was started in Jacksonville, FL but operates in East Africa. Our primary program is rescuing orphaned and abandoned children. We also do many other things, however. Okoa works to transform entire communities through development and empowerment programs. This includes constructing community centers and a center for people with disabilities. The House of Joy Medical Center offers quality medical care to marginalized people who typically cannot afford medical treatment. Through our Bible Schools we plant churches in rural communities. Lastly, Okoa has a program called the Philippi Project in which we rescue women off of the streets and give them hope and training to start new lives. Our main goal in everything is to bring hope and healing to lost and broken people.
