The Brandon Burlsworth Foundation

The Brandon Burlsworth Foundation was founded in 1999 after a tragic car accident took the life of the Arkansas Razorback player, Brandon Burlsworth. Brandon, the first Razorback football player in history to earn his Master’s degree before playing his last football game, had completed his college career and had been drafted by the Indianapolis Colts. Only 11 days later, the tragedy struck. The Brandon Burlsworth Foundation has several programs: The BBF, in partnership with Walmart, provides eye care to thousands of pre-K through 12th grade students whose working families are trying, but still cannot afford extras like eye care, and do not qualify for state funded programs. Our “Burls Kids” program takes underprivileged children to all Arkansas Razorback and Indianapolis Colts home games. The Brandon Burlsworth football camps are held each year in Harrison and Little Rock. There are also several football scholarship and awards including the Burlsworth Trophy, a national award given to the most outstanding Division One college football player who began his career as a walk-on, and the Burlsworth Character Award, given to the high school football senior in each football program across the nation who has good character and sportsmanship.
